SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE!!!
It seems as if Colorado has some strange weather. Just when you think warm temperatures are here to stay, we'll have a rainy, cold day in the 50's or 60's. But now that we are at the end of June, Summer seems like it it is finally here. We enjoy swimming, playing in the sprinklers, and our evening walks. Here's the lil Bean enjoying Summer 2011.....

13 months!
Today Berit turns 13 months. This month has gone by so fast-- can't believe the end of June is already here. We have managed to keep ourselves pretty busy so far. At the beginning of the month, I went to Albuquerque for a litte visit, as Steve had a pretty busy work schedule which kept him away from the house a lot...so we went and got some family time down in ABQ. Berit and I have developed a little summer 'routine' which gets us out of the house and socializing with other Moms/Babies. We try to go to story time two days a week (Tuesdays and Fridays) and try to have a swim day or some sort of play date on other days. Afternoons are always reserved for nap time! I have recently started going to a class called 'Stroller Strides' where you work out with your strollers doing cardio, plyometrics, etc...it is a great workout! I hate doing sit-ups, push ups, etc...so it's good to get out there with a group and just do it! Also, on Monday's, I meet Angela and Alison at Wash Park so we can catch up as we walk with Berit, Caleb and the newest addition, Ainsley! Funny to think I have known them now for 17 years, and we are all in the Denver area with our lil babies!

Until then, here are some 4th of July pics from last year! Can't wait for time in the river, Granny's famous ice cream, and just relaxing......
Some fun facts about our little 13 month old:
13 months- and wearing shoes that are a little bit big! |
- She loves FRUIT!! She has been spoiled with the great summer fruit--watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries and blueberries! She double fists them all, and just shoves them in her mouth.
- She is also willing to try lots of different foods-- she eats tofu and cooked spinach of all things! She even tried a cooked portobello mushroom and loved it.
- Loves her wagon rides and looking out the window...especially when we wait for Daddy to come home.
- Somehow-- she keeps pushing her bedtime back....used to be 7:30, then it was 8:00, then 8:30, and all of a sudden has crept up to 9:00?? We're going to have to work on that!
- Loves to throw rocks, and loves to wear shoes. She will bring you a pair of shoes and sit in your lap so you can put them on.

Father's Day!
We had a great Father's Day. We spent the day in Boulder, and had a picnic on the CU campus and strolled around Pearl Street. Berit had a great time running through the grass and stopping by our picnic every now and then for a piece of cheese, watermelon or PB&J. She slept in the car on the way home and wasn't very tired when we got back so she played in the backyard and watched Daddy work in the yard, swung in the swing, and blew bubbles. For dinner, we grilled bratwurst, salmon and corn on the cob. So grateful that lil' Berit Bean is in our lives so we could celebrate Steve on this day!
Also, I mentioned below that Berit recently learned to wave. Well, it happened to be on Father's Day! What a fun gift for Dad.....and of course, Dad was the one who got her to do it. I had been trying for weeks, but alas, no waving for Mom. Apparently, Dad makes the best teacher.

Here we go!!
I have been thinking a lot about how I want to document these precious years of Berit's life. I try to keep up with her baby book, but that doesn't really keep track of the day-to-day....just the milestones. I take a million pics which typically get printed out and put in a book, or just saved on our hard drive. So, I finally decided to start a blog which will allow me to make a 'yearbook' of each year. I recently learned that you can take a blog and make a book out of it....so here we go! I hope this blog can keep family and friends up to date with what is going on with us!!
Berit is now almost 13 months old. At her 12 month check up she was 18 lbs. 4 oz and in the 10th percentile. She was also 28 inches long which is in the 20th percentile. So-- thus far she's a lil munchkin! But what a funny little munchkin she is! She doesn't do much talking yet, but she can say mama and dada when she wants. But, we know she can understand us. She knows 'snack', 'cheese', 'Popo' (which is what we call her pacifier), 'Maya', 'milk', 'bottle' and a few others. She recently learned to wave and when she waves both hands we call it 'going crazy' and she just laughs and laughs. So, there is a quick update-- and I hope to document things consistently going forward-- we'll see!
