Morning at the Park

It has been so fun this summer to take Berit to the park.  She is really starting to get to the age now where I don't necessarily have to follow her around constantly while we are there (although, depending on the equipment, I sometimes do!).  She loves the slide, climbing steps, and of course playing with rocks.  We have had quite a warm September so we have been making the most of the great weather.  Here's some pics from our outing this morning.

And of course, when we got home she had to play with her new favorite toy.  Yes, that's a shoebox. 

16 months!!!

Well, we are at the 16 month mark.  Makes me sad actually, because this little one is just growing up too fast.  Here are some fun facts about this little lady.

• As you can see from the photo (a serious Lil' Bean!!)-- still very much addicted to the Popo.  She had a phase where we would say 'bye-bye' to it every morning, and leave it in the crib.  But she has decided she no longer wants to do that anymore. 
• Learned how to sign 'more'.  Now she knows 'milk' and 'more' and we are working on some others.  She has known milk for a couple of months now, and just one day out of the blue she finally started to do 'more' and we were so happy.
• Becoming better at playing by herself.  When she used to be in the play area, she would always want Steve or I with her-- but lately she has been playing alone rather well.
• Loves to go the library and pick out (destroy) books on the shelves. 
• Shrugs her shoulders on command. 
• Now knows where here 'head', 'knees' and 'toes' are.  When you ask her where anything on her face is 'nose', 'mouth', etc...-- she will point to YOUR nose or mouth.  Except for her ear.  She knows that one.  Oh, and she also knows what her 'Fofo' is.....The good ol' Vogt family nickname :) .  Is that TMI? 

We are enjoying temperatures here in the 80's the last few days--It sure doesn't feel like Fall.  But we will make the most of it! 

Oh JOY!!!

Today, my new baby cousin Joy Janet Skarsgard was born.  She is Ruthie and Josh's third baby.  She was about 3 weeks early and weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and was 18.5 inches long.  Some may say she was a miracle.  Aunt Ruthie had a very difficult pregnancy.  That is why we have such JOY in Baby Joy.  We are happy she is here, and that she is healthy.  God is Good!

It's been 10 years since 9.11.01.  Hard to believe.  We will never forget!

Labor Day weekend we packed up and headed to visit the Fabilas in Dallas!  Emma and Berit are almost exactly the same age difference as Jennifer and I.  They are so cute together, and it was fun to watch our little girls playing together just like we used to.

The adults were even lucky enough to enjoy a night out on the town while Taylor watched the kiddos.  We laughed because we left the house to go have some drinks at 5 PM.  The life you lead as parents sure is different!  We had to make sure to be back by 8:30.
